Back in the 60’s & 70’s as a young kid growing up in the Pacific Northwest my family lived just north of Seattle in the state of Washington. One day my father asked me if I’d like to go on a long road trip down through the states and Mexico into Guatemala, this was in the beginning of June in 1970 & I was 12 at the time. This would be the first and last time for both of us to travel together outside the US, once we made it to Guatemala we stayed with a missionary family in a little town called Antigua , while there I’d visit local markets where I came across many types of interesting handicrafts. I remember purchasing a number of handmade Machetes made from car springs, they had really nice leather sheaths with Guatemala engraved in them. I didn’t realize it at the time but it would turn out to be the beginning of a lifelong passion to travel the globe searching for unique handmade handicrafts & wood carvings. At 16 I lost my father by 18 I decided to leave the US and peruse my dreams of traveling the globe, I ended up buying a one way ticket to Hawaii, from there I traveled all the way around the world, every country I visited I would search for unique items, here are just a few from Bali Indonesia. I travel the globe searching for unique handmade treasures.
